- โข Do not attempt on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces.
๐ Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Establish the 45-Degree Viewing Angle
Place a tape marker on the floor where your audience or camera is positioned. Stand approximately 8 to 10 feet back, turned at a strict 45-degree angle away from the lens so your rear foot is completely shielded by your front foot and leg.
- โข Performer stands 8-10 feet away from the lens at a distinct 45-degree diagonal.
- โข The rear foot is visually occluded behind the front shoe from the camera's perspective.
- โข Standing too square to the camera, exposing both heels.
- โข Standing completely in profile, revealing the gap between feet.
Set Foot Alignment and Pants Hem
Position your feet 2 to 3 inches apart along the diagonal sightline. Let your loose trouser hems fall naturally over the tops of your shoes to hide the joint of your hidden pivot foot.
- โข Pants cuffs drape cleanly over the shoe uppers without riding up.
- โข Both feet appear naturally placed and relaxed along the diagonal line.
- โข Wearing tight pants that clearly outline the ankle and calf movement.
- โข Placing feet too far apart, breaking the visual block.
Execute the Hidden Pivot Lift
Shift your body weight entirely onto the hidden toe of your rear foot. Rise straight up onto the hidden toe while simultaneously lifting your entire front foot horizontally off the floor by 2 to 3 inches.
- โข Visible front foot rises perfectly parallel to the ground.
- โข Visible heel of the rear foot lifts in sync with the front foot, keeping the front of both shoes appearing level.
- โข Tilting the front foot toe-down or heel-down instead of keeping the sole horizontal.
- โข Wobbling the upper body sideways while pressing onto the rear toe.
Hold and Stabilize the Peak
Hold the apex of the rise for exactly 1 to 2 seconds. Keep your torso straight and your arms relaxed or naturally raised as if floating, avoiding tense facial expressions.
- โข A clear horizontal gap of 2 to 3 inches of empty air is visible under both visible shoe profiles.
- โข Body remains balanced with minimal torso shaking for 2 seconds.
- โข Holding the peak too long, causing calf fatigue and balance loss.
- โข Flailing arms or leaning heavily to one side.
Perform the Controlled Landing
Lower yourself smoothly back down by rolling off the hidden toe until both soles rest flat on the floor. Land softly without thumping your heels or adjusting your foot position after contact.
- โข Both feet touch down simultaneously in a smooth, quiet descent.
- โข Performer ends in the exact starting stance without stumbling or shifting feet.
- โข Dropping abruptly with a loud heel slap on the floor.
- โข Shifting feet immediately upon landing to regain balance.
